Tattoo Aftercare
Proper care is essential for a tattoo to heal beautifully.
What Is Tattoo Care?
Tattoo care mainly involves moisturizing and protecting the area from UV exposure.
It is generally best to keep the protective film over the tattooed area for one to three days after your session.
Your tattoo artist will apply the protective film after the session, so you do not need to prepare anything special.
You may remove the film on the day of your session, but be diligent about moisturizing and UV protection.
When showering immediately after your session, gently rinse the area with lukewarm water at around 39–40°C.

Tattoo Care Precautions
Take care to avoid further skin damage and bacterial infection immediately after your session.
What to avoid immediately after getting a tattoo
- Rubbing the area vigorously with a towel or clothing
- Soaking in a bath, hot spring, sauna, or pool
- Drinking alcohol immediately after your session
- Strenuous exercise
- Taking a hot shower
- Activities involving heavy UV exposure, such as swimming at the beach
A scab may form over the tattooed area as some time passes after your session.
Picking at the scab may cause color loss, so leave it in place until it falls off naturally.

- Moisturize appropriately with a product made for tattoo care
- Avoid heavy UV exposure and sunburn
